Post-Left Anarchy Introduction List

This is supposed to be an entry-level, introduction reading list for people who want to know about post-left anarchy. Due to the nature of this school of thought I feel like these texts will be most effective to the average anarcho-syndicalist /social anarchist reader looking for some change. Nevertheless a lot of these texts are very enjoyable even if you are not an anarchist, particularly Desert.

Post-left anarchy isn’t an ideology per-se, but a name to group over many modern post-anarchist schools of thought, organization tactics or ecologic defenses. As such, some of the names you will recognize under this umbrella are anarcho-insurrectionism, eco-pessimism, egoist anarchism, nihilist anarchism, anti-civilization or lifestylist anarchism. None of these are exactly the same but share many critiques of the left, capitalism, civilization, the State, prisons, morality, society, etc.

It is my believe that these schools of thought are the modernization of the egoist tendency. If you come from this side and its 200-year-old rich history you will find this very enjoyable.

This is a list of the texts I believe are more introductory. You’ll find that Jason McQuinn is very present; this is not because he is a prominent post-left writer or the Marx or Lenin of post-anarchism, rather I find his texts very short and to-the-point, perfect for introduction.

This list is only a suggestion: feel free to explore the diaspora of post-left critique on your own. I have provided a Post-Left Anarchy reading list at the end of the page. This list is somewhat outdated and I know of a group that is working to bring it up to date, but it contains quite a lot of texts on the subject divided by theme.

Once you have read these I suggest you read Bob Black’s The Abolition of Work and Freddy Perlman’s The continuing Appeal of Nationalism. Also, if you have already travelled through different leftist ideologies and have read deeply about them I recommend you read Jason McQuinn’s Critical Self Theory (there’s a 13 pages version that’s quite nice).
